Luperox 231EB88 polymer initiator is a cyclic peroxyketal initiator used for the polymerization of styrenic polymers. Luperox 231EB88 converts styrene monomer to high molecular weight polymer faster than a thermal process alone. When Luperox 231EB88 is added during the polymerization process at 100°C to 130°C, the conversion of styrene to polystyrene is increased, reflecting an improvement in productivity. For the synthesis of high-impact polystyrene, the diradicals generated by Luperox 231EB88 can also improve the grafting rate of polystyrene to rubber, producing a product with higher impact resistance.
